Why Choose Hardwood Flooring?

Hardwood flooring is the way to go when adding elegance to your space. Here are some reasons to install hardwood floors:

  • Aesthetically pleasing: Hardwood floors are aesthetically pleasing and add to the appeal of your home. Many people find hardwood floors inviting and warm. Plus, they can easily blend with various types of decor.
  • Easy to clean: You don't have to clean them often, but when you do, you can vacuum, steam-clean or sweep them. Hardwood floors don't stain like carpets, making them easier to maintain.
  • Durable: Hardwood is naturally strong, and our engineered hardwood is even stronger. This durability makes it ideal for areas with high traffic, like stairs.
  • Good air quality: Hardwood floors help improve the air quality in your home. They are suitable for homes with people who have allergies since hardwood does not trap dust and pet hair.
  • Add value to your home: When you need to sell your home, hardwood flooring will increase its value, as it is a desirable feature to most buyers.
  • Environmentally friendly: Hardwood is a sustainable and renewable flooring material. Our eco-friendly flooring is long-lasting and uses less water and energy to produce. Moreover, you can recycle the wood at the end of its life span.
  • Variety: You will be spoilt for choice when buying hardwood flooring from us since we offer various colors and species. The species you choose depends largely on your property's aesthetic and the type of room you install it in.

Hardwood Flooring Types

At All American Flooring, we have different types of hardwood flooring to fit your preferences. The hardwood flooring we offer includes:

Solid Hardwood Flooring

Solid hardwood is the most durable hardwood flooring and is ideal for rooms with heavy traffic. It is available in unfinished and prefinished pieces in various kinds of wood and is suitable for ground or above-ground installation. Solid hardwood flooring has a thickness of between 5/16 to ¾ inches and widths of 2 ¼ to 5 inches, and you can sand and refinish it up to two times for a longer-lasting performance.

Solid hardwood flooring requires professional installation to prevent buckling and gaps. It is also sensitive to fluctuations in humidity, expanding and contracting when the moisture level changes. We can install Solid hardwood over wood subfloors.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Engineered hardwood floors feature a top layer of solid wood and many thin layers of plywood fused with glue, heat and pressure. They look like solid hardwood flooring, but they cost less and are easier to install because the planks stick together.

Every layer expands and contracts in different directions with no visible changes. We can install our engineered hardwood flooring over concrete and wood. Depending on the thickness, you can sand and refinish the top layer several times to keep the glossy look.

Hardwood Flooring Species

One of the most favorable features of hardwood flooring is the unique markings from the trees they came from. Tree species have grains, color variation, knots and other natural markings that will impact the look and performance of your hardwood floors. The density of the wood varies depending on the climate in which the tree grew. The cold climate produces tighter growth rings, making robust and dense lumber.

Some of the wood species used for hardwood floors include:

  • Red oak: Red oak is the most used species for hardwood flooring. It is durable, economical and sustainable. Many people like it for its warm tones ranging from creamy pink to rusty brown. It also has visible graining, and the color varies from one plank to another.
  • White oak: White oak is a "harder" wood and is ideal for high-traffic areas. Its grain patterns and color vary slightly from one plank to the other.
  • Hickory: Hickory has superior hardness and color variations. Its grains give it a distinct character, and it is also known for its density and shock resistance.
  • Ash: The Ash species is popular for its color variation and bold grains, which can be wavey, curly or straight.
  • Maple: Maple is the hardest domestic hardwood and is perfect for high-traffic areas. Its colors have a warm hue and light graining, which may be almost unnoticeable.
  • Walnut: American walnuts or black walnuts have a rich brown color and fine graining. They add warmth to your space, and their color varies from plank to plank. Their graining variations and knots add character to the wood.

Hardwood Color Options

Hardwood has varying colors, finish options and stains. You can select a color that appeals to you and matches your decor. Some of the hardwood flooring color options available include:

  • White and gray
  • Tan and natural
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Red and orange-toned
